Kaupapa
The repetition of patterns in Kowhaiwhai of the Ngutu kaka design is the ongoing cycles of nature, the intergenerational knowledge passed down, and the ways in which the Whenua is sustains Papatuanuku through community of Tangata Whenua. This continuity looks at the responsibility of Kaitiakitanga of natural resources, where both the design and the land serve as a reminder of the cultural responsibility to preserve and protect.
